The former &#;Bachelorette&#; revealed in her 2-month-old son Jones&#; Instagram debut on Wednesday that he was diagnosed with Down syndrome and spent the first weeks of his life in a neonatal intensive care unit.

&#;SURPRISE! On August 31st, Tyler and I welcomed our sweet son, Jones West Johnson, into the world,&#; Maynard, 36, captioned family photos with her husband, Tyler Johnson.

&#;During my surgery we learned that he was born with Down Syndrome, and while it was certainly a surprise, we have so much peace in God&#;s perfect plan and know Jones is going to be a blessing to our family,&#; she continued.

The former reality star — who is also the mother of Ricki, 17, Jennings, 7, Gibson, 6, Gatlin, 5, and Nola, 2 — joked about Jones joining &#;all the chaos&#; in her and Johnson&#;s home.

Maynard began her reality TV career in while looking for love on Brad Womack&#;s season of &#;The Bachelor.&#; While the restaurateur, now 49, proposed during the finale, the former couple called it quits months later.

The former event planner became the &#;Bachelorette&#; the following year. Although she chose Jef Holms, Maynard and the entrepreneur, 38, ultimately broke up.

In June , Maynard wed Johnson. The pair started growing their family one year later, going on to give Ricki, Maynard&#;s daughter from a previous relationship, five siblings.

Maynard told People on Wednesday that Ricki was her &#;best buddy&#; throughout Jones&#; NICU stay.
